So I'm sitting up late because I start work at 3am tomorrow and my sleeping pattern is going to be ruined either way, and I remembered that I told some fuelers that I would do some more blogs, and I saw Avatar last night. So I'm gonna blog about that.
Avatar. Is very pretty. Beautiful even. Infact, its probably the best looking film I've ever seen. I spose you'd expect that when everything is done on computers and costs 300 million dollars. (Yeah that's right, seriously who pays for these kind of things?)
But I'm watching, in 3d mind you, and I'm watching the characters and making attachments to them and enjoying watching things getting blown up in 3D, and just plain getting a little sleepy cause I cut myself a real comfy grove into the cinema seat. Yeah I say cinema, not all the time but sometimes!
WHEN I SUDDENLY REALISED I WAS WATCHING POCHAHONTAS!
Now I discussed this with some friends today who were all "ooooo its so amazing, a masterpiece, brilliant movie." WRONG! Well kinda. I was pretty harsh by saying that.
YES it is the best looking movie you will see. And defs go see it in 3D. Costs you like an extra dollar that you can get back or something if you return the glasses, don't trust me on that one :P But it is not a great movie. Pochahontas was a great movie cause it had a racoon that becomes friends with a pug dog and the song colours of the wind is amazing, but apart from all the shiny spectacular covering, the insides of Avatar are far from interesting.
Also, once again, everything is beautiful, but so unimaginative. For instance their horses. Unoriginality mark #1: Their horses are called horses, like the audience is too dumb to remember a new word for 2 hours. #2 "Oooo we have to make them amazingly different, lets give them 2 extra legs and make them blue! That's nothing like a horse!" True, that isn't a horse, but the amount of creativity that went into the surroundings, (which are amazing at night, really they are, kinda took my breath away, yoooou can paaaint with alllll the colourrs of the wiiinnnnnnd) was heaps better, I was dissapointed that the aliens were just bigger, bluer, tree hugging hippy versions, of humans.
But I can see why they are like that. They can't have humans killing humans, that's too confronting. But if we make some aliens that use spears and arrows like Aborigines and Native Americans, then we can make people feel bad about those people without actually showing them! Brilliant!
OK so I sound pretty grumpy. But I want you to see this movie. And you should. It will be a movie you tell your grandkids about when your old (duh, whos having grandkids at 20 max? shaddup!) and TV is like 5D then or something ridiculous. And all the other grannies and grandpas in the old folks cyber home will remember it aswell. But you're not going to say, "O such a great story" (if you do I'll smack you with my walking frame) you will talk about how amazing it was in 3D on the big screen which is what you should go and see.
So in short: Watch now in 3D. Save the DVD money for when they release pochahontas from the vault!
Thanks guys! Max :D
