VirusWhat is Virus? Virus is a student led prayer group, inviting Christians to join together to pray for their school. Why? There are so many aspects in school life such as lonely students, busy teachers and stressed out students that need our prayer. Coming to Virus also gets the day started on a positive note and helps you focus on the important things in life. How did it get it's name? Virus got it's name because a group of students wanted to infect their school with Jesus Christ's love. How do I get a VIRUS started? Yes, Virus is completly student run so it's up to you to get it started but our youth leaders would really love to support you through it. Here are some basic steps that will help make it an effective VIRUS: 1. Get together with one or two other Christians in your school and decide what day is best. 2. Organise a time to meet with your principle to get permission to run VIRUS. 3. Word of mouth is the best communication, but there may be many Christians in your school that you dont know about so it is good to do some public announcements. ie funky posters or 'VIRUS business cards' 4. Plan what will happen at VIRUS outside of VIRUS, you dont want VIRUS to become school meetings discussing what to do. 5.The best time for VIRUS is before school! Why? You are not excluding yourself from your friends at lunch time, it gets you started really well for the day, and it shows your commitment. 6. As a leader or co-leader plan each VIRUS beforehand. An example might be: 5 minute pep talk. What is the focus of prayer today? 10 minutes praying for a certain topic, vary it up a little. For example pray in pairs, as a group, or outside. 2 minute challenge, for example "Today tell 10 people they rock", or "encourage a teacher you dont like!" All the best - looking forward to hearing your VIRUS stories.
